Measurement systems to determine cage speed
You want to measure cage speed in your roller bearings but you are not sure which system is right for you?
We have put together an overview for you here of different measurement systems used to determine cage speed. Find out which system is right for your application!
1) The frequency components used to determine cage speed are usually so low that they are overshadowed by the interference level of the machine noises. Moreover, with multiple bearings it is often not possible to determine from which bearing the frequency components are coming.
2) Some measurement systems require the bearing to be prepared (e.g. by attaching a magnet to the cage or using magnetized rolling elements or even by removing the bearing cap)
3) Optical systems fail in harsh conditions with humidity, dirt, chips and swarf. Magnetized parts collect chips and swarf.
