22 – 26 August 2022 | Frankfurt, Germany
METAX Kupplungs- und Dichtungstechnik GmbH and BestSens AG have worked together closely to present this solution live to you at ACHEMA 2022.
The combination of expertise in the field of mechanical seals and the know-how in sensor technology that allows to record data in the seal and evaluate it.
A unique demonstrator was set up to give trade visitors a live impression of how the seal, sensor technology and web app form a unit. Speed and axial thrust can be set individually, for example to intentionally cause overheating.
This is immediately reflected via the UI of the web app and an emergency shutdown is initiated by the BeMoS Controller.
At ACHEMA, Lars Meisenbach and Harald Tobies will present the joint trade show demonstrator and explain the key features and benefits.

SENSORIZED MECHANICAL SEAL
The smart seal’s continuous monitoring gives you immediate feedback, for example, if a threshold value is exceeded. Automatic shutdown takes place before damage occurs. Integration into existing seals is possible with no difficulty and provides the data on the separating lubricant film directly from the seal. The intelligent logarithm acts immediately on changes and displays them clearly in the web app. For example, parameters such as temperature, cage speed, slip and pressure angle can be recorded at a glance.
AXIAL THRUST MEASUREMENT
With our patented axial thrust measurement, you can determine the axial forces during operation of the pump. You can plan and optimize service intervals and set the operating point of the pump to ensure the longest possible service life until the next necessary repair. At ACHEMA, we will be able to set the axial thrust live using the demonstrator on display at the booth of our partner METAX. Changes resulting from this in the bearing are immediately displayed in the web app.
Looking inside the mechanical seal from the outside is very crucial for many users, as monitoring during operation not only allows maintenance intervals to be planned more precisely, but also prevents any damage that may occur. Downtimes and failures are thus a thing of the past.
